Before Dr. Johnston was a believer he doubted the accuracy of Scripture translations, and therefore the integrity of the Bible. After coming to faith, he decided that the only way to find out whether the translations were reliable was to learn the original languages. After majoring in the classics at the University of Texas, he came to Dallas Seminary and discovered that teaching was his passion. Prior to joining the full-time faculty of Dallas Seminary, he taught Greek at the Criswell College and as an adjunct teacher at Dallas Seminary.
Dr. Johnstong will be presenting “Inerrancy” an overview of the reliability of God’s Word…..come out and explore this relevent, true and crucial doctrine for the Christian life, and the life of the church.

Description: Jonathan Davis will be presenting. “Open Theism-An Exploration of the Openness Tradition in Christian Theism”
This lecture will explore Open Theism, the idea that God does not exercise meticulous control of the universe but leaves it “open” for humans to make significant choices (free will) that impact their relationships with God and others. Open theism makes the case for a personal God who is open to influence through the prayers, decisions, and actions of people. The lecture will give a history of the development of open theism theology, explore the major premises of open theism, introduce modern open theists and their works, explain critiques and opposing view points, and explore the major questions that open theism raises including:
• Does God control the future completely?
• Does God know the future?
• Does God operate outside of time as we understand it?
• Does the future exist in the spiritual realm?
• Do open theists think the canon is still open?
• How is God’s soverign if God is not in total control?
• ..and more
